Call of the Wild 2020 - New Dates
Sunday 6th - Sunday 13th September
Forrest Yoga Retreat for Gay / Bi / Trans / Queer Men
Idöborg, Private Island in the Swedish Archipelago
Sunday 6th - Sunday 13th September 2020
Idöborg Private Island, Sweden
*** Due to Corona Virus this retreat is now happening in September
In 2020 we return to the spectacular Idöborg Private Island in the Nämdö Archipelago only 90 minutes from Stockholm. This retreat will be a true adventure, as we leave the mainland behind and set sail to our remote and wild home for a week.
Idobörg has one of the most beautiful yoga rooms I've taught in, overlooking the sea, the old wood fired sauna is perfect for body scrubs and jumping into the ocean. And we also get to take the kayaks out and explore the local waterways and wildlife.
Call of the Wild
The theme of this retreat is 'Call of the Wild'! Set your soul free, let your spirit run wild, open your heart to nature, to life, all in the company of magnificent GBTQ men from all over the world.
Our home for 8 days is 7 hectares of Island paradise, with beautiful forest, rugged coastline, cosy cabins, a wood fired sauna, kayak trips, wild swimming, stargazing, ritual, morning yoga and mediation and a few surprises!
Every morning we will practice together in the beautiful Yoga Shala surrounded by nature and overlooking the water.
The afternoons are for free time and relaxation, connecting with nature, spending time with yourself or amongst the group. In the evenings we will dance, sing, meditate, sweat in the sauna, swim under the stars, have a movie night, share delicious food, and enjoy the company of men from all over the world.
This retreat is for Gay / Bi / Trans / Queer men and is suitable for all levels of experience and all yoga backgrounds.
This Retreat is For You if:
You are looking for a sacred pause from your daily routine, and to dive deep into nature, into your yoga practice, into your body and soul!
Your heart sings at the prospect of sharing a wild adventure in remote nature in the community of international gay / bi / trans / queer men!
You are excited and inspired at the thought of spending 9 days on a private Island with open hearted men from all over the world
You feel the 'Call of the Wild' - getting in touch with your primal self, swimming in the sea, howling at the moon, relaxing in the forest, gazing at the stars, connecting with nature to connect to spirit
You are seeking space from certain behaviours, like technology, devices, social media, alcohol, substances etc
You are open and eager to making a positive changes in your life, to learning about yourself, to growth, transformation, to releasing old patterns, to harness the connection with nature and the community of men to support you on your journey!
You understand that the weather may be unpredictable, we could have 9 days of glorious sunshine, or it could be a little wet! It is up to us to make the most of it! For this an open mind and adventurous spirit will help!
Some activities are clothing optional. For example swimming in the ocean, evenings in the sauna, our ecstatic dance session! This retreat is a body positive, nudity positive, shame free space where we can celebrate and express ALL that we are as queer men. If you want to remain clothed at all times then that is of course totally welcome.
This Retreat is NOT For You if:
You are just looking for yoga holiday! This retreat will be deeply relaxing and healing but also challenging! Expect to be challenged physically, emotionally and even spiritually! If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with a bit of yoga there are plenty of more suitable alternatives out there.
You are prone to complaining about last minute changes in schedule, bad weather etc and you expect things to be done for you. You will be very well looked after on this retreat but together we will co-create the experience, and you will be a very important and valid part of that experience. How much you get out of the retreat will very much depend on YOU.

I walked into my very first Yoga class on a weekend trip to Amsterdam 12 years ago. Since then I have explored different styles including Bikram, Ashtanga, Power Vinyasa Yoga and now I teach the intensely physical and healing Forrest Yoga, a modern, dynamic practice carefully crafted by Ana Forrest over the past 40 years.
Forrest Yoga ignites every cell in my body. I love the intensity and the emphasis on personal freedom, intuition, and connection to spirit and the authentic self.
Yoga has brought wonderful healing to my life.10 years ago I was in a very different place. I struggled with addiction, depression and social anxiety. I felt lost and disconnected from myself and the world around me.
Through regular Yoga practice I started to heal, nourish and respect my body and bring joy and presence into my life. Yoga for me is an exhilarating, joyful and at times painful journey of growth and self discovery - I love every second.
What to expect:
Energising and uplifting morning Ceremony + Forrest Yoga practice
Singing + Drumming + Dancing
Wild Swimming in the Sea
Trips to neighbouring Islands
3 delicious vegetarian / vegan meals every day
Community amongst open hearted men from around the world
Plenty of time to yourself to relax
Daily wood fired sauna to sweat and restore

Created by Ana Forrest over the past 45 years, Forrest Yoga is an intensely physical practice that will make you sweat and ignite every cell in your body through deep breathing and powerful, healing poses.
Forrest Yoga teaches you to go deeper to find your truth, and encourages you to take these gifts you have earned beyond the mat and into the rest of your life.
Forrest Yoga honors and celebrates the beauty of life and the power of Spirit. It is an inspiring yoga practice that builds flexibility, intelligence and strength while helping deepen the relationship with your authentic self. Accessing your intuition - the voice of your Spirit - builds personal strength and ushers integrity into your daily interactions.
Forrest Yoga challenges you to heal, grow and welcome your Spirit home.
Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. The practice is founded on four pillars -- Breath, Strength, Integrity and Spirit.
Forrest Yoga teaches you how to breathe deeply, connect in feeling with your body, use the power of breath to bring aliveness into every cell of your body and ignite your passion for living.
Forrest Yoga teaches you to connect to your core, to be strong and centered. The intense pose sequences are designed to help you develop the skills to awaken each of your senses. The long holds help you progress in the poses and go deeper. Aided by the use of heat, your body is freed from toxins; the deep breathing oxygenates and rejuvenates every cell in your body.
Forrest Yoga teaches you to become proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you, particularly with physical and emotional injuries. By learning to work honestly at your edges, you develop effective tools to deal with fear and struggle. This makes it possible for integrity, self-awareness and playful curiosity to become part of your daily life.
Forrest Yoga's intent is to create a sense of freedom, a connection to your Spirit and the courage to walk as your Spirit dictates.
