The call
Welcome to Call of the Wild // Cornwall!
A retreat adventure for gay bi trans queer men - with yoga, sauna, coastal hikes, sea swimming, meditation, breathwork, and much much more.
Call of the Wild Cornwall is a Spring retreat for GBTQ men who share a spirit of adventure, who are looking for a sacred pause from daily life, who are willing to dive into a deep retreat experience together.
Trenarren is a spectacular house overlooking the sea. There are stunning ancient coastal paths for exploring the local beaches, coastline, and Cornish villages.
In the magnificent gardens is a handcrafted wooden sauna, designed for traditional sauna rituals blending heat and steam, with a bath tub for cold plunges.
Our mornings start with ceremony and a yoga. And throughout the week we explore breathwork, meditation, singing circles, dance, and culminating in a glorious cabaret.
The house is spacious and bright, with a gorgeous yoga room overlooking the lawn and a view to the sea, and meals in the kitchen next to the Aga.
This is a retreat for gay, bi, trans, queer men of all ages and yoga levels. It’s much more than a yoga holiday. This is a space for deep rest and relaxation, for joy and playfulness and fun.
And Call of the Wild is also designed to challenge and inspire you. To take you out of your comfort zone. To embrace growth and healing and transformation. To come alive. To lean into fear and anxiety, with curiosity, compassion, and heart.
It’s truly remarkable what is possible in the space of a few days when we gather with intention. Come join us!
What to expect:
Yoga + Ceremony + SAUNA + Music Movement + Nature + touch + CABARET + sea swimming + meditation + breathwork
Yoga is the foundation of our time together on retreat. A deep active morning practice and a more restful and restorative evening practice.
Music, singing, chanting, breathwork, dance, movement, performance! Practices that bring joy and celebration to our lives, that make us feel alive and connected. That inspire us with gratitude for life and awaken our sense of awe and wonder for the world.
Sauna! The Trenarren House sauna is so beautiful. Perfect for long intense sauna rituals, with a wonderful bathtub for a cold plunge in the garden.
Touch! Touch is deeply healing, pleasurable, relaxing, and sacred. Simple, gentle exercises to practice giving and receiving touch.
Playfulness! Play is healing and play is liberation. Play connects us to joy and to our inner child. Play can be funny, intimate, sexy, spontaneous. Play inspires us to be ourselves, in the moment, and to feel alive.
Nature! Swim in the sea or take a walk along the ancient trails of the Cornish Coastline.
Breathwork! A deeply healing, and energising practice to move energy and release blockages and tension in the body.
Lost gardens of heligan
We have the possibility of visiting the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan one afternoon during the retreat.
There are over 200 acres of Victorian Gardens that were lost to time and overgrown with brambles as the gardeners were called to fight during World War II.
A chance discovery 30 years ago led to a huge restoration project. Visitors get to explore all of the restored gardens, which are full of biodiversity and local wildlife.
The gardens are only a short drive from Trenarren and a glorious day out. With plenty of cafes for a traditional Cornish Cream Tea.
vault nudist beach
The weather in Cornwall in May can be glorious, but skies and the nature bursting into life with Spring.
So likely warm enough for an afternoon trip to Vault Nudist beach. This is just a short drive from Trenarren. It’s a beautiful walk down to the beach for a relaxing afternoon in the Spring sunshine and a dip in the sea.
Nudity welcome but not mandatory.
CHARLESTOWN HARBOUR
A good hike east along the coastal path takes us to the spectacular Charlestown, the last open 18th Century Georgian harbour in the UK and is proud to be a UNESCO world heritage site.
When you enter Charlestown Harbour you are transported back in time. The Harbour has a unique history and geography and remains a vibrant working port, with classic tall ships, beautiful beaches and great places to eat and drink whilst enjoying the breath-taking views.
The Harbour’s UNESCO listing is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape.
